BRUCE, Michael Francis - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Tuesday, July 22, 2003. Michael Francis Bruce, Past Grand Knight, Past Faithful Navigator and life-time member, Knights of Columbus, age 88 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 64 years, Florence (nee Pynn); one son, Frank (Judy); two daughters: Marcella Gillett (David), Doris Carroll (Frank), all of St. John`s; two brothers: Ed and Leslie (Patricia); two sisters: Mary Furey and Marcella Whelan, all of St. John`s; brother-in-law Charles Pynn, Florida; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a large number of nephews and nieces. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Wednesday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Funeral Service on Thursday, July 24 at 2 p.m. from Caul`s Chapel. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. July 24, 2003 PARSONS, Robert Seeley - Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at the Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit after a courageous battle with cancer, Robert (Bob) Parsons in his 77th year. Predeceased by his sisters: Jessie, Mary and Carrie. Leaving to mourn his wife of 53 years, Violet (Clark); his son Clark (Phyllis); loving grandsons: Robert and Charles; brother Ches (Maude) and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Fondly remembered by the many students he helped and challenged as a long-standing teacher and principal in St. John`s. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service to take place on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael`s and All Angels Church with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Donations in Bob`s memory may be made to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation. July 24, 2003 PORTER, Ethel May (nee Avery) - Passed peacefully away at The Health Sciences Complex on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, age 86 years. Predeceased by husband Jonathan, June, 1991, son Douglas, August, 1974. Leaving to mourn two sons: Jim (Glenys); Melvin (Deanne); daughters Marjorie Greeley (Edgar); Phyllis Greenslade (Arthur); Gloria Dawe (Arthur); Jeanette Cluney (Gerald); daughter-in-law Ethel Porter; brother Melville Avery, Toronto; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
