My name is Tanya Mercer, I am 30 & live in Taranaki, New Zealand. My great grandfather was Capt. John Mercer, he married Amy Patterson from Manaia, Taranaki and had one child also named John. They lived in Wanganui. I believe they seperated (I have no knowledge why), but Amy became instrumental in getting women the right to vote in NZ. She raised John who went on to become a teacher & have 3 children of his own, John, Hugh (my dad) & Hilary. Where are you in the world?
