(nee Bird) - Passed peacefully away at the Leonard Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit on Monday, July 21, 2003 in the presence of her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ena leaves to mourn, Art, her husband of 54 years; her son Kirk and his wife Katie, of Orangeville, Ont., and her much loved granddaughters Megan and Adrienne. Also, her brother Ernie (Wynn) Bird, Calgary, AB; sister`s: Rosalie Martin, Happy Valley, Lab; Neta Bird, Spruce Grove, AB; Phyllis (Frank) Kelly, St. John`s, NL; Laura (Ken) Munro, Kamloops, BC; Merle (Ernie) Blake, Burton, NB; as well as many well loved nieces and nephews and devoted friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., from Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John`s. A memorial service will be held at Barrett`s Chapel at 2 p.m., on Thursday, July 24, 2003. No flowers by request, donations in Ena`s memory may be made to the Mazol Shriner`s Patients Transp! ortation Fund, 530 Topsail Rd., St. John`s, NL, A1C 5N5. Members of Ena`s family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit for their dedicated and loving service, and seeing that her time there was comfortable and peaceful. July 23, 2003 EAGLE, Kathleen Mary (nee Ryan) - Passed peacefully away on July 22, 2003, in St. John`s, at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank T. Eagle (1959), son Robert W. Eagle (1987) and daughter Jane Marie Eagle Byrne (2003). Kate was the last surviving member of the family of W.P. Ryan, former City Engineer for the City of St. John`s, and his wife Margaret (nee Cunningham). She leaves to mourn daughters Frances Richardson (Allan) of Nova Scotia, Kathy Gulliver (Mike) of St. John`s, and daughter-in-law Elsie Eagle of Pasadena, NL; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She will rest at Caul`s Funeral Home on Lemarchant Road. Visitation from 12 noon to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Funeral Mass will take place at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in St. John`s at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2003. Cremation to follow. Interment at the family plot at Belvedere Cemetery at a date yet to be determined. In her final! years Kate was lovingly cared for by her daughter Kathy, son-in-law Mike and her grandchildren Deanna and Daniel. Though her memories were taken from her in illness, we remember her good life and her struggles. She was an acerbically witty and lively soul whose character, a force of nature, shaped the lives of those who loved her. Leaving to mourn her daughter Barbara Pye (George); sons: Robert (Midge), William, Wayne and Barry; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and best friend Muriel Hart. July 23, 2003 TILLEY, Franklyn V. - It is with sadness in our hearts we announce the peaceful passing away of our precious and loving husband, father and grandfather, Franklyn V. Tilley on July 22, 2003 in his 88th year. Leaving with cherished and wonderful memories is his loving wife of 52 years Helen (Ash); three sons: Jimmie (Nicole) Toronto; Jim (Violet), Torbay; Bob (Val), Mt. Pearl; three daughters: Patsy (Peter Kelly), St. John`s; Jewell (Ross Avery), Clarenville; and Wanda (Ray Palmer), Mt. Pearl; sister Dot Balsom, Clarenville and brother-in-law Roy (Monica) Ash, St. John`s. Dad Tilley also leaves fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy as he was theirs. Also left with special memories are a large circle of family and friends. Retired from the Newfoundland Constabulary and Her Majesty`s Penitentiary, Frank was also a very proud member of the 166th Royal Artillery and the Singing Legionnaires.
