BARRETT, Pansy M. - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, August 23, 2003, Pansy Barrett, age 81 years. ³Aunt Pansy² leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends. At Panty`s request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at 11:00 am from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one`s choice. September 12, 2003 BURRY, John Henry William - Passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, September 12, 2003, John Burry, recently retired professor of mathematics and statistics at Memorial University, predeceased by father Hubert and mother Margaret, brother Pat, infant sister Trixie, brother-in-law Gerry Tucker. Leaving to mourn loving wife Myrtle (nee Tucker), daughter Dr. Dana (Brent Boan) Burry, son Dr. Brett (Michelle), both of Courtney, B.C., special mother-in-law Gladys Tucker, St. John`s, sisters Elizabeth Talarico, Penetanguishene, Ont., Jocelyn (Keith) Manley, Stratford, Ont., Jennifer (Doug) Caines, Pools Cove, Nfld.; sisters-in-law Laura Burry, Petty Harbour, Carol (Michael) Nolan, London, Ont., Patricia Tucker, Bedford, N.S.; brothers-in-law Burnell (Shelly) Tucker of London, England, Norman (Netta) Tucker, Gander, Fred Tucker, Milton, Ont., also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Miller Centre, at the age of 76 years She is survived by her seven children: Joseph, Pikering, Ontario; Mary and son-in-law, John Murphy, Torbay; James Whitby, Ontario; Francis, Pikering, Ontario; Patricia and son-in-law Joe Houlihan, Mississauga, Ontario; Eugene and daughter-in-law Suzanne, Mississauga, Ontario; Helen and son-in-law Dave Kennedy, Torbay. Also left to mourn are her six grandchildren: Jackie, Erin and husband John Mackey, Jamie, Ashley, Melissa and Nicky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters: Ruth Quigley (Joe) and Joan Crowe Torbay, and her brother James Crowe, St. John`s; her brother-in-law Jesse and his wife Winnie Gosse, Toronto, Ontario; special friends Monique and April Gosse and Judy Henry, Ontario; dearest friends Rose O`Reilly of Pouch Cove, Anne Martin of Torbay and many other special friends. Ebenezer Hiscock, well known to others as (Ebe), passed away peacefully at his home in Glovertown August 15, 2003, after a long battle with Cancer, age 58. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ellen Hiscock of Greenspond. Anita Mary Riley died August 20, 2003 at her home in Miami Beach Florida, she was 83. Born in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland, daughter of Josephine and Thomas Keough. She was the wife of the late Edward Riley and a longtime resident of Braintree, Massachusetts before moving to Miami Beach. She is survived by her brother Joseph Keough of Woburn, MA. Funeral Mass was held on August 25th, burial took place at Fred Hunter`s Cemetery in Hollywood, Florida. September 12, 2003 CRAWFORD, (Sandy) Alexander MacLachlan - Passed away peacefully at Duncan, British Columbia on August 18, 2003. Sandy was born in St. John`s March 21, 1921. He was a crew member (engineer) and the last known survivor of the M.V. Geraldine Mary, torpedoed and sunk by German U-Boat #52, August 4, 1940, in the North Atlantic. The Geraldine Mary was part of a convoy transporting essential supplies to European allies during World War II. Sandy was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Annie (Payn) Crawford; sisters Jessie (Hartman), Jean (Martin), Gert (Coffey) and brother Harry. Leaving to mourn: wife Mabel (Rogers); son Jim (Bonnie [Horwood]); granddaughters: Lynn FitzGerald (Sean); Joanne MacDonald (David) and grandson Sandy (Susan); great-grandchildren Maggie, Alex, Victoria and Spencer FitzGerald; Grace and Emily MacDonald, all of St. John`s and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends across Canada. At Sandy`s request, cremation has already taken place. Predeceased by his wife Jean Elizabeth ³Betty² in 2002; daughter Jennifer Ruth Kelly in 2002; sons Ronald William in 1998, Calvin Trevor in 1963 and Kenneth Leslie in 1956; parents Wm. R. and Minnie; brothers: Leslie, William Jr. and Harry.
