Good morning all......with Lloyd announcing some time ago that he was going to see about Loyalist connections with his family, I recall thinking, hmmm...never thought of that one?...and , yet still didn't until his announcement { this a.m. } on the Loyalist surname Royal /Ryall, of which I am researching and stuck/confused !!!....so , after just perusing around on the site he mentioned this morning and others, I am shocked at how many Loyalist names in the eastern USA are to be found in NFLD!.....It never , ever occurred to me that any of my family lines would have a Loyalist connection { probably because my main research is on my MacDonald's of Cape Breton , and I knew they came directly from Scotland and were of the first settlers to the area}..I think this may have struck me in one mind set!..Maybe there are others out there like me?..I suggest if you're unsure of where they may have come from to NFLD, check Loyalist USA names...Here are just a few of those I came across! this a.m.....you will recognise them as common to NFLD....Just food for thought , for those of us that may be hard to change!;............ Pike - Knight - Royal/Ryall - Rideout - Cook - Dow - Roberts -French - Frye - Rowe Hilyard - Russell - Babcock - Bishop - Bateman - James - Jenkins - Jordan - Kelly King - Patton - Pierce - Dwyer - Holland - Gould - Cain - and these are just a few...... ~ Ann~
