Passed peacefully away at Valley Vista Seniors Home on Nov. 8, 2003, Stanley Elwin Coish of Rattling Brook, Green Bay, at the age of 77 years. Leaving to mourn with many precious and loving memories are his wife of 55 years, Bessie, of Rattling Brook, son Elwin and his wife Linda of Stephenville, NL; his beloved granddaughters, Melanie Flynn (Keith) of Dartmouth, NS., Marilyn Coish (Todd) of Halifax, NS., two precious great-grandchildren, Claudia and Jonah Flynn; three sisters, May Smith of St. John`s, Cecelia Smith of St. John`s, and Florence Squires (Bill), of old Perlican; brother-in-law Harold Bartlett (Joyce) of Rattling Brook and sister-in-law Pearl Coish of St. John`s; many nephews and nieces and friends. Predeceased by parents, William and Louisa Coish, brother Cyril Coish, sisters Beatrice Ivany and Frances George. He will be resting at Rattling Brook United Church from where the funeral wi! ll take place on Tuesday Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Russell Lodge will be officiating. November 10, 2003 DELANEY, Philip R. - Passed away suddenly at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, November 9, 2003, Philip R. Delaney of Harbour Grace, formerly of Bay Roberts and Labrador City, age 59 years. Predeceased by his parents: Patrick and Margaret Mary and his sister Sadie. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 35 years and best friend, Isabelle (Purcell); his pride and joy, two daughters, Kimberly (Shane) Parrott and Lauren Delaney, both of Ottawa, ON; his very special pride and joy, grandson Mitchell Philip; two sisters, Carol Delaney, Nanaimo, B.C. and Marie (Wally) Andersen, Happy Valley-Goose Bay; one brother, Jerome (Philomena), St. John`s, his mother-in-law, Nellie Purcell, Harbour Grace and a large circle of relatives and friends. November 10, 2003 GODOWN, Mary Hollett (writer, actress) - of Mulberry died from a heart attack Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at her home. She was 75. Born in Great Burin, Newfoundland August 28, 1928, she was a prominent member of the St, John`s Players and wrote for Radio Station VOCM in St. John`s, NF and The National Geographic Magazine in Washington, DC, before moving to Mulberry five years ago. She was a member of St. Stephen`s Episcopal Church. Mrs. Godown is survived by her husband Richard D. Godown; son Christopher M. Godown, Washington, DC; brothers Ronald G. Hollett, Tweed, Ont.; Harold M. Hollett, St. John`s, Newfoundland; sister Margaret Noble, Sutton, Ont. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 12 at St. Stephen`s Episcopal Church. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. at St. Stephen`s. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Stephen`s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. November 10, 2003 NOONAN, Vincent - Passed peacefully away on Sunday, November 9, 2003, in the presence of his loving family, Vincent Noonan, retired R.N.C. Sgt., last living member of the original Mounted Police, in his 85th year. He was predeceased by his son Bernard. Leaving to mourn his loving wife, Phyllis (nee Mercer), daughter Christine (Shen); three sons Eddie Jr. (Colleen), Corey (Lori), and Trevor; four precious grandchildren Timothy, Corey Jr., Samantha, and Brady; three brothers Art (Joan), Alf (Judy), George, and one sister Linda Andrews (Gary), only brother-in-law Jack Mercer (Myrtle); a large circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends. November 10, 2003 THORNHILL, William (Bill) Fox - 72, Cole Harbour November 8, 2003, surrounded by family and friends, after a long courageous battle with illness he has taken his place with our Lord. He will lovingly be remembered and deeply missed by his best friend and wife Matilda (Bond); three children, Wade (Sandra), Cole Harbour, Frank (Geralyn), Brooklin, On and Anne (Brent) Gillan, Cole Harbour. A devoted brother to Suzie Blagdon, Ewart (Edna), Harold (Irene), Margaret (Jim) Hamilton, Bertha (Gordon) Andrews, Shirley (Eli) Patten, sisters-in-law Vadie and Emma and brothers-in-law, Bob Teron and John (Evely) Bond. He was predeceased by mother, Agnes (Fox), father, Frank, brothers Gordon and Eli, sister Rudy Teron, and brothers-in-law Newton Blagdon and Gerry Williams. He was beloved ³Poppy² to grandchildren Scott (Marsha), Matthew, Jennifer, Sarah, Jacob, Brendon and Leanne and great-grandfather to Haylie. He had a large extended family, which included many aunts, uncles, cousins, nep! hews and nieces. Bill was born in Grand Bank, NF, where he was an active community leader involved with countless organizations including Grand Bank United. He held a Bachelor of Science degree from Memorial University of NF and worked with the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans for 25 years prior to retiring in 1987. He and Matilda moved to Cole Harbour, NS in 1992 where he continued as an active community member. He devoted much of his time to his choir at Cole Harbour-Woodside United Church as well as many church committees including extended ministry outreach programs. He was a Master Mason, a member of Athole Lodge, ISGRNS. A wonderful father, a much-loved brother and son. To all who knew him, he was a generous and loyal friend, slow to anger and full of compassion. All will dearly miss him. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Co! le Harbour-Woodside United Church. Rev. Dr. Susan MacAlpine-Gillis to officiate. Interment will take place at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
