I'm helping a woman who is very desirous to find her birth parents. Here is the information about her: Birth Certificate only says: Julia Ann (no surname), born 22 March 1953 in St. John's. Supposedly her mother lived in a little fishing village in Newfoundland. This mother was a unmarried maid in the house of a man who was in Parliament and they had this daughter named Julia Ann. After the child was born the mother lived in a Salvation Army facility and put the child up for adoption after 3 months. Julia was adopted 14 July 1953 by William Denton Butler (Was in service in the Air Force) and wife, Louise Ellen Butler. Julia grew up and married Vern Corlew on 21 Oct 1970 and lived in Gladwin, Wisconsin, USA. Supposedly a Mr. J. A. Rose of St. John's was contacted in 1979 by Julia and he said there was a sealed adoption packet, #750, which at that time was sealed, but now is able to be viewed and would have information about her birth parents. (Another possible adoption date was 30 Apr 1954.) I would greatly appreciate knowing what steps I could take in finding this adoption packet and in identifying Julia's birth parents. She is most anxious to find this information. -- Thanks from a former subscriber to this list wherein I found so much good information.
