Hello Everyone! I am new to the list and was hoping that I could get some information regarding my family tree. I have been researching the surname of BARNES and have hit a brick wall for so long now that I am getting discouraged. The biggest obstacle is the lack of closeness in the family unit. My parents were not married when I was born and my father never adopted me after they were married so my surname is ROSE and not BARNES. This I found out only after my father had passed away and I was grown. Needless to say, the only info I have is from my Aunt and it is not much, but here it goes. Apparently my clan started in Lincolnshire, England and then immigrated to Newfoundland. My information begins with two brothers Thomas and William who were the first to come to Newfoundland. Thomas had four children (don't know his wife's name): Slster? Who married an England John Thomas (9/1852) who married Susannah Lush William Henry (1861-1914) who married a Dawe Sue who married John Normand William also had four children: Samuel, George, William and Thomas The rest of the info I have is the descendants of Thomas and there is no more mention of William. John Thomas Barnes and Susannah nee Lush had three children: John Charles (10/1875-26/04/1948) who married Fannie Taylor (1886-23/01/1921) Henry (09/1885) Sarah (28/05/1880) who married Charles Snow Next, John and Fannie had 11 children: May (01/05/1899) - rumour has it she was born in Boston Mildred who married Leopold Caines - she was rumoured to be born in Boston as well Wilmot (1901) who married Bob Haines Lester Uriah Barnes (1904-1941 he was lost as sea in the North Atlantic on March 16, 1941 while a Merchant Marine aboard the Rio Dorado) who married Mary Ellen Rose (my parents) William Henry (22/04/1906) who married Eliza Jane Morgan Annie (1907) who married John Barrington Violet (1910) who married Al Porter Jack (1911) who married Dorothy Mahar Rita (1912) who married George Littlejohn Art (1914) who married Jessie Fred (1917) - apparently all eleven children were baptised in Foxtrot, Newfoundland Unfortunately, this all I have to go on and I don't even know if the dates are correct. If anyone out there can help me out in anyway at all, it would be greatly appreciated. Any help at all will be appreciated. A million thanks in advance. William Rose
