    3. Hello: I heard of a book "Births, Deaths & Marraiges 1810-1890" It can be bought for around $58,quite expensive, so I wonder if anyone has this book and could do a look-up for me?? I am trying to follow the Francis family. My person was Ambrose Albert (or Albert Ambrose) Francis. He was considered a brother by Eliza (Bennett) Dibbon, but not according to the Anglican Church records. Could this have been a case of the Bennett family absorbing another family? Ambrose was a lobster fisherman. His first wife was Elizabeth. She died a few years before 1924 but he married Inez Arey in Gouldsboro, Maine in 1889. Did they do divorces back then? I wonder if the Francis family was an old family in Newfoundland and if so, what part of England did they come from? In the 1884 Burin-Methodist census, there is an Elizabeth Francis and son Thomas. Could this be his ex-wife? In anticipation, Margaret Murray

This collection is of Births, Deaths & Marriages as posted in the various newspapers from 1810-1890 as compiled by the late Gert CROSBIE. They give very little information such as SMITH - a son to John SMITH (date & name of paper). There are a few entries for the FRANCIS surname but none for the Burin area. >I am trying to follow the Francis family. My person was Ambrose >Albert (or Albert Ambrose) Francis. Could this be his ex-wife? It was common that if a parent died, especially the mother, that another family would take in the child & raise it within their family structure. Divorces were very uncommon & a death of a spouse would be more likely the cause of a re-marriage.
