My family interests are mainly in Newfoundland, Trinity Bay, mostly. My great grandfather (more greats than I can figure right now) died in Scilly Cove (now called Winterton) in 1790 about 86 years old. His name was Jasper Hiscock and I believe he came from the area of Christchurch. We do have a Hiscock family baptized in Christchurch and moved to Newfoundland, but unfortunately not Jasper. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If any of the Clark family, or any other families that settled in Newfoundland, I am most willing to share info. The early records in Newfoundland were scarce and poorly recorded, so a lot of my info and other researchers is based on family oral history and subsequent records. There were several fires that also destroyed any records that were saved. Thank you Elizabeth Ingham (formerly Hiscock) Researching all the families of Winterton, Newfoundland

    3. Just a small contribution - are you linked with the Hiscocks of Trinity, where there is a historic house open to the public. I know that Hiscock branch connect with Parkstone, now in Poole, Dorset. In the house there is a grandfather clock brought out by the family made by one od the Poole watch/clockmakers. I fear I cannot tell you more of that Hiscock's genealogy, but there are still Hiscocks in Poole. Jim Miller at the Trinity Historical Society may be able to tell you more?
