Hi, I am looking for information on the Kennedy side of my family and would appreciate any assistance. Anne Kennedy, my maternal Grandmother, was born in Carbonear on September 2, 1882. Her Father was Nicholas Kennedy born abt1849 in Crocker’s Cove, and died in 1928 in Carbonear ( ?). He married Mary Ellen Harrington on January 18, 1874 in St. Patrick’s Church, Carbonear. I am trying to determine who the parents, brothers or sisters of Nicholas Kennedy are. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Waterloo Region Record, Kitchener, Ontario - 29 Jan 2009 OLDFORD, Willis Clifford - Aged nearly 97 years, died peacefully early Saturday morning on January 24, 2009, in Shelburne, Ont. He was born March 8, 1912 in the Newfoundland outport of Squid Tickle (now Burnside), the second of Esau and Minnie Oldford's five children and their first surviving child - his sister Ida lived only nine days. Recently predeceased by his brothers, Appleton Cleves Oldford and Eli Conrad Oldford. He is survived by his brother, Frederick Wilbur Oldford. Growing up in a Newfoundland outport before and during the great depression he faced many challenges. As a fisherman he sailed five summers on the Labrador and was once shipwrecked. He was twice widowed before age 35, married first to Annie Brown Dyke (mother of Edward Shirley Oldford) and then to Mabel Green (mother of Clifford Frederick Kitchener Oldford); both died around age 25. In 1948, he married his third wife, Emma Louisa Rumboldt (nee Fillier), herself a widow and mother to three young children (John French, Beulah Allison and Eileen Gladys Rumboldt; a fourth child, Richard, died as an infant). Together they combined families and left Newfoundland for Toronto as immigrants to Canada. There they had a child, Richmond Wayne Oldford, the sixth in the family. When Emma passed away in 2002, they had been married for 54 years. A master carpenter, he took great pride in his work, oversaw many construction projects in Ontario and Newfoundland and was always generous with his time and skills. He is already terribly missed by his surviving children and their families including 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by the many other family members, friends, neighbours and others whose lives he touched, both in Ontario and in Newfoundland. All are welcome for visitation on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Newediuk Funeral Home, 2058 Kipling Ave., Etobicoke, Toronto. Funeral service will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel; burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens (Albion Rd. and Hwy. 27). Reception at the home of Ed and Irene Oldford near Trafalgar Rd. and Steeles Ave. in Georgetown will follow. _________________________________________________________________ So many new options, so little time. Waterloo Region Record - 20 Jan 2009 THERESA C. CURWIN 1938 - 2009 The death of Theresa Curwin (70 years) occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, January 18, 2009, due to complications of a brain tumor. Born in Bell Island, Nfld. on July 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Deborah (Tremblett) Boland. While her first priority was her family, she also had a varied career outside the home which included Bell Telephone, Singer Sewing, Spencer Nursing Home, Alcorn Manor, Grass Nursing Home, and the Moncton Hospital. As well, she was previously a part owner of Reid's Newsstand and Curwin News. These business activities did not prevent her from achieving one of her main goals - that of acquiring her G.E.D. (High School Graduation). She excelled in several crafts. In addition to her husband, Allistar (Bernie), she is survived by her son, Dale (Rob Giacobbi) Curwin of Ottawa and her daughter, Carla ( Chris) McCully of Riverview and her two grandchildren, Joshua Curwin and Katie McCully; as well as her sisters, Mary Ryan, Rita (Ewart) Rose, Marion Normore, Elaine (Nish) Clarke and Mona (Fred) Vreeland, all of Cambridge, Ontario, Kathleen Bartlett of Marysvale, Nfld., Frances (Jerry) Sweeney of Ottawa and her brothers, Dave (Chrissy) Boland, Bill Boland, John (Coleen) Boland, all of Cambridge, Ontario. Theresa was predeceased by her sister, Joan Boland. Because Theresa was far from her immediate family, she received warm support from her husband's family which includes Anna LeBlanc, Betty Swetnam, Jim (Marjorie) Curwin, Robert (Verna) Curwin, Claude (Helen) Curwin, William (Linda) Curwin, all from Moncton, Anne Curwin of Halifax and Gerald (Joan) Curwin of Florida. The family will be receiving visitors at the Riverview Funeral Home located at 214 Pine Glen Rd. today (Tuesday, January 20) from 7-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers and Sharing of Memories at 8:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Riverview on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Phil Mulligan officiating. A celebratory reception will follow at the Dan Bohan Centre. This past year has been difficult for Theresa. The support provided by family members and friends was beyond measure, including the gift of her sisters taking turns to be with her for weeks at a time. The professional support of the Extra Mural Program allowed Theresa to stay in our home until just the last few days when she was transferred to the Palliative Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital where this special care continued. Not to be forgotten, the emotional and practical support of the Hospice Services helped us through some rough spots. We hesitate to suggest what you might want to do in Theresa's memory. You all have personal and important charities. A suggestion might be to fill out an organ donor card. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd., Riverview, N.B. (506) 857-9544.
