She regularly updates me with the beaton ancestry and she is absolutely the best. I just sent along your info about abraham paul for her files and for all the same reasons!I am so glad that you saw my queries about the pauls. they were the most important part of my husbands family and we are going to get a gravestone for mary and joe paul whom are (we think) buried in the wigwam point indian cemetary in peterview. Our cousin gerald beaton is integral for a lot of info with this family (mary paul was his grandmother and my husbands g grandmother) and gerald donated the gravesite land to the indian band a few years ago. But sadly there are many in there and no records. We will be holding a ceremony and have it blessed when we do this. Is there any connection between the pauls and the jeddores? I have the info on santu paul and the badger pauls. We know of this relation. I als! o got a true copy of the baptismal of mary paul (barnes) ellen paul and thomas barns parents etc. on my last trip to nfld and jill was there with me. Also my husbands grandfather and brother are named frances, and I thought also that mary belonged to ellen because she named her twins ellen and julia. I believe that I came across a julia joe or brazil in something to do with the pauls and there was a (paul) in her name. Must find it. Thank you again for all of this. micmak1 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. What i can tell you is that william and johanna (sylvester)paul had a son (in the tilting rc records) named abraham baptized aug 6,1862. I also have marriages for 2 abraham pauls. marriage #1 was to mary elizabeth elliot. june 3,1895. he-30 she-25yrs. Ships cove at wigwam point. witnesses, Alfred beaton and ellen paul. marriage #2 Your abraham, 30, to margaret kennedy 25. RC, wigwam point. witnesses alfred beaton and mary beaton (paul). Alfred and mary are my husbands g grandparents and ellen is, I believe marys mother and is related as either a cousin or older sister to abraham (1862) as she was born around 1850. I will continue to look, though as they are all related, but they are so elusive!I probably have more data on every paul but my own! There is a micmak census from the rooms in st. johns and I believe that it is only 1921. I will keep everyone alerted if i find another cen! sus that can be accessed. I do not have any records for abraham and margarets children, if you are a decendant then start at your own parents and work backwards. We even went to the old neighbourhoods trying to get some info! and we live in alberta, so another trip to nfld is soon coming! Also there is a grave yard in peterview that was the indian burial ground but there are only the beaton markers on it and one for a john cook. but their decendant told me that there are hundreds of people buried there. lots of pauls and also in pt.leamington. We think our mary paul is there but no way to know for sure. I hope this helps and maybe someone else might get a spark from a word or two of this and help us out so thankyou for writing shawna and if you get anything let me know and I will do the same. jackie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am originally from Western Bay and I would like to inform you that, even though there are no Howells currently living in Western Bay, the last family bearing that name died off within the last ten years or so. Thet lived on the South side. There is also a piece of land on the North side of the community that is still referenced as "Howell's Garden". I expect this belonged to the original Howell families. 3. Hi Janet, Nice to hear from you. The Newfoundland Howell family did originate in Carbonear, some of them moved from there to Western Bay. From there one line (about 3 or 4 people) went to Cobblers Island in Bonavista Bay. I believe a few went into Trinity Bay and now I find from your note that another one went to Red Bay, Labrador. Seems to me I also recall that another one went to the west coast of the Northern Peninsula. From this perspective the Howell family story is not unlike many other families that seem to have migrated up the east coast. 3. Hello Jack, I live in British Columbia now so I bought mine from a store called London Drugs several years ago. I checked their web-site and they don't stock it anymore. I found the scanner on the web at Canon at their digital photography site. I too tried the e-store website but they only sell selected products. http://www.canon.ca/digitalphotography/english/product_category.asp?id=4 One of these places in St.John's might sell it... I've gone through the Cannon Scanner Products in both Canada and the USA but I cannot find any of the 9950F Scanners listed. I have found reference to the adapter for various sizes of negatives. Would it be imposing if I asked if you purchased your scanner in Newfoundland or elsewhere. Thank you all for your responses Regards Jack Connors ----- Original Message ----- From: "NFLDFrench" <NFLDFrench@shaw.ca> To: <nfld-lab@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 02, 2009 7:52 PM Subject: Re: [NFLD-LAB] Scanning Negatives > Jack, > > I use a Canon scanner model 9950F. 3. I have some old negatives and I was wondering if anyone has found a cost effective way to scan these images. Some of these negatives are probably 70 plus years old and a typical negative measues 2 1/2" W X 4 1/2" L. I know there are some camera dealers that can do this type of work but the cost can be very high, particularly if one has a lot of negatives. Your help and advise would be appreciated Thank You Jack Connors
