Information sought about PATRICK KEOUGH of Bonavista. Patrick m. Bridget Walsh ( 1798 - 1865) at Bonavista October 3, 1816 in the R.C. Register, wit. Thomas & Eleanor Walsh. I have good Info. on their children and their families, but I need to find out where Patrick was born, when, and who his parents were. The last reference I have for Patrick is the 1877 Directory for Bonavista. I assume he died in Bonavista shortly thereafter. There is no headstone, but I'll bet he is buried alongside his wife, Bridget, who does have a headstone. If I had to make a guess as to when Patrick was born, I would say 1790 or thereabouts. During a review of the Dawe surnames transcribed from the records in the Coley's Point Anglican cemetery I noted the following words opposite site#237 quote: " Hemell R.N.R. son of Edmund and the late Jane Hemell of Sandwich Bay Labrador Aug. 29, 1914 25 years 'who answered the call to duty and was striken with brain fever and died at Coley's Point" Site #237 is located between #236, Dawe, Malcom A, Mar. 2, 1916 26 years 6 months Robert Dawe also his father Aug 11,1932 age 83 years and Dawe Rebecca Laura also his mother Sept. 17,1895 83? years.....and...site#238 which records 5 members of the Barrett family 1852-1936. Questions: #1. noting the words 'who answered the call to duty', I wonder if the R.N.R. refers to 'Royal Newfoundland Regiment' rather than personal initials ? #2. What is the present day name for where was than named Sandwich Bay, Labrador? #3. What does the SEARY book say about the surname Hemell? ===== "Life is for sharing, naked we enter, naked we leave" __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! Today I copied this information from the original hand-written document dated the 28th day of February 1774. "In consideration of Stg. 221.05.05 ....lot #33 part 3A ....ownership was transferred from Thomas Desbrisay, Lieutenant Governor of The Island of Saint John's, North America, to John Nixon." This framed document size about 20 in. x 20 in. is in the possession of a collector here in Victoria, B.C. I was told that Thomas Desbrisay was a British Military Officer who opposed the American Revolt against the British Crown. The reward for his efforts in this cause was the Crown grant of a large piece of land on The Island of Saint John's, including the above property at Charlotte's Town. Also, I was told that this historic document was offered to the Provincial Museum of Prince Edward Island, they were not interested in paying the requested fee to the current possessor of the document. To MaryAnn Your AOL email address blocked my reply. I do not have or heard of Noami Russell at this time. I'm Still stuck with Willaim Russell's parents and siblings.
