Greetings fellow Listers, To start off the New Year 2004 I have new questions developed from the contents of my recent email to Listowner Sue O'Neill. If either of you can provide answers to these questions I would be pleased to hear from you. The words added in (brackets)after the 'local descriptions' are mine, used to help further identify the exact locations. #1. What is the basis for the place name "Turk's Gut". #2. Is Turk's Gut the south area as opposed to North or Northern Gut, now known as North River? #3. Who is the family that has possession of this rare 1835 NL Historical 'beautifully handwritten' Document/Book for Conception Bay and are there more books like that, for other areas of NL, still in existance? #4. Does the word 'Tenement' (at Colliers in 1835) refer to a building or a place? #5. What is the present day names for the locations recorded in 1835 as 'Beachy Cove' and 'Bishop's Cove', Bay Roberts? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ --- Lloyd Rowsell <lgrowsell@yahoo.com> wrote: > Date: Sat, 27 Dec 2003 10:30:06 -0800 (PST) > From: Lloyd Rowsell <lgrowsell@yahoo.com> > Subject: 1835 Voter's List for Dist. of Conception Bay...Four > Divisions > To: sueoneill2@cogeco.ca > > Hello Sue, > > The envelope arrived from Welland Ontario on Dec. 23rd...thanks very very much for the Xmas Gift. > Here are my comments: > > #1. Hi Everyone, Just had to share my wishy washy Christmas poem that I put together for a laugh if nothing else<smiles> just because it's Christmas!! while I put my Ancestors search on hold for a couple of hours<smiles> It's the evening before Christmas and all through the House nothing to be heard but the click of my Computer Mouse you see I'm into searching for my Ancestors still leaving things to be done and my Hubby's stocking to fill just one more Ancestor to find and I'll call it a night then prepare my Trifle and make everything just right I'll make sure my speakers are turned up real loud in case of an email I can sneak from the crowd an obsession our Ancestors to me they have caused I can't entertain without taking a pause I run to my Computer and check it all out then explain to my Folks what it's all about They don't understand why it's become my passion searching for dead persons are way out of fashion When and if I have completed my Tree I will share with them all about why I'm me It's because of our Ancestors we are here today I am still part of their being but in a special way So now I will leave my Computer for such a short time cause this is the last that I can put into rhyme. <smiles> and A wonderful Christmas to All Evelyn
