George AXFORD (a mariner who made his will in 1654) was one of many in Dartmouth 1642 who "depended on the Newfoundland trade". Thomas OXFORD in St. John's, Newfoundland, 1675 & 1678 with a wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters, 21 servants is most likely a relative.

William PIDGEON was a dual resident of Newfoundland and of Devon. He owned a plantation in partnership with John SPINSTER in Ferryland, Newfoundland, which eventually went to SWEETLAND & Co. He was appointed constable in Toad's Cove. In Devon he maintained a residence for his family in Seaton & Beer until his death in 1734. He was bapt 1670 in Sidbury, son of Nicholas & married 1692 to Joan MANNING in Seaton & Beer. His daughter Ann married Richard NEWTON and daughter Elizabeth married Daniel SEAWARD.

John CLOUTER, of Dartmouth or nearby, "dependent on the Newfoundland fishery in 1642" is likely of Brixham and buried there as John Clouter the elder of this town in 1661. A more junior John Clouter, master of the Bricksom Merchant from Brixham, Devon in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland 1676. In 1682 a Mr Clowter is a planter at Bay Bulls. John Clouter married in Brixham 1657 to Elinor CROUT.
