I have turned up the following in my research. First Is the will of a Henry Newton , dated February 14, 1732. It is published in a book entitled Will Abtracts of Essex County Virginia, 1730-1735. Will Book # 5, 15 December 1730-27 February 1735. Edited and published by Ruth and Sam Sparacio. I am typing this in exactly as written, spelling, puncuation and all. " IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I HENRY NEWTON of the parish of St. Ann in the County of Essex being in a very ill state of body but of perfect sense and memory praise be given to the Almighty God for the same doe make this my last Will and Testament revoaking & disallowing of any will & Testament heretofore by me and this and no other to be taking for my last will &Testament in manner and for me following Vizt. Imprs. I give and bequeath unto my Sone JOHN NEWTON all the land beloning to me whereon I now live situate lying & being in the parish of St. Ann in the County aforesd to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Sons JOHN & HENRY NEWTON one negro man named JAck to them & the survivor of them and their heirs. Item I give & bequeath to my son Henry Newton one ffether bed boulster Rug & Blankit. Item I give and bequeath to my Son JOhn Neton one feather bed, boulster rug & Blankitt, one small iron pot & pothooks. I give &bequeath to my Daughter MARY one ffether bed, Boulster, Rug & Blankets and two ews. Item I give & bequeath to my daughter MARGARET one Bed & one Cow & Calf. And all the rest and residue of my Estate not herebefore bequeathed, it is my will & desire it be equally divided among my aforesd Children Vizt. Henry, John, Mary & Margaret Newton And I doe constitue make and appoint my son Henry Newton sole Executor of this my last Will and Tesament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this fourteenth day of ffebry. In the year of our Lord Christ according to the Computation now in use in the VChurch of Great Brittain One thousand Seven hundred thirty two. In Presence of Salvator Muscoe. Henry Newton Benj.
