Surname lists like this one can serve many useful purposes. One is to identify valuable resources that other members may be unaware of. I'll start, with resources regarding the line of Ebenezer Newton, Sr., b. abt 1725 - d. 1812 Rutherford Co., NC, and his descendants. Some descendants remained in York Co., PA (where all of his children were born), while others migrated to NC and GA. 1. HISTORICAL SOUTHERN FAMILIES, V. 21, pp. 1-95, "Newton of North Carolina, Georgia and other Southern States," by Mrs. John Bennett Boddie, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, 1976. This reference also contains info on many collateral families, including Buchanan and McCall. 2. "The Capt. Benjamin Newton-William Downs and other Lineage History," by Posey E. Downs, (privately published). Neither reference is holy writ, and the information is not equal to a primary source, but they are both invaluable starting points for anyone interested in this branch of Newtons. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE OTHER RESOURCES ABOUT THIS LINE OF NEWTONS TO SHARE? Reiley Kidd Seattle
