    1. Re: Missing Newtons
    2. Robert, Your James Newton is not the same one I believe I am looking for but I thought you might have run across him. There are so many James it is really hard to find the right one. My J. M. or James M. Newton is thought to be born in 1715 in England, a sea captain who possibaly came to east coast of Marlyand, probably Dorchester County and he or his son James came to Fairfield County ,South Carolina and then to Georgia by 1795 to99 . The tomestone in Georgia states he was born in 1715 and died in 1823, else where I found he died at the age of 94 .His son I believe was born in 1740. He or his son married a Fisher Wood and there was an Aristarchus Wood in her family. The names in the family are Charles , James , Hannah, Willis, Richard, Julia, Elizabeth, Marchus, Oliver , Ezekiel, and George. Some of this information I have found in a Newton Genology book but I believe that the information is not exactly correct according to old bible records. I believe that there were more than three James Newton in this family and the book has gotten them all mixed together. any help would be most appreciated. Dottie Newton
