Seeking info on ROY FREEMAN NEWTON, b Dec 1886 Wathena, Doniphan County, KS. According to info from my mother, Roy's parents were MARION PHOENIX NEWTON (b Feb 1858) and MARY CATHERINE GRAHAM (no info). Both were supposedly born in Iowa, but no verification, and I did find one census listing Roy's siblings birthplaces as Nebraska and Kansas. According to my mother's info Marion's parents are listed as "Elijah Sir Issac Newton" and another Mary Catherine, no surname, no info. Roy married Mabel C. Bergren, b Jan 1895 Iowa. My grandmother, Catherine L. Newton, was born May 1911 in Kensington, Smith County, KS. One sister was born Nov 1912 Agra, Phillips county, KS; and last siblings born in Iowa 1914 and 1916 respectively. One remains alive and I have talked w/ her but she has told me what she can or will. Mabel C. Bergren's parents are indicated to be Peter Bergren, b 1860 in Sweden and Lena Larsen, b Sept 1864 in Centerville,IA. One census I found the family on lists the mother as "Irma" born in Sweden 1869, immigrated 1882 but my grandmother's sister has no idea who this woman was, indicates their grandmother was Lena Larsen, not Irma.
