I am almost positive that George Newton of Virginia is the father of the James Newton that married Sarah Clark. The name George Newton is on their marriage certificate as father of the groom. I've looked and looked for information on Sarah, but can only guess at her parentage. Most sources say she was born in England, but I kind of doubt that. I have two brothers, who could do the DNA test, but neither is interested in genealogy and I can't afford the fee to send them the kit. Maybe sometime. Thanks for your information. Sandy Perry
Hi Sandy, Does the marriage certificate say "father of the groom" explicitly, or is the name considered implicitly to be that of the father? As far as the DNA test goes, I'd be willing to bet that if you could convince your kin to be tested, someone else could be convinced to help defray your cost of the test. That's not a promise, just a hunch. Best, Gregg --- JPerry927@aol.com wrote: > I am almost positive that George Newton of Virginia > is the father of the > James Newton that married Sarah Clark.
