I have no living male Newtons in my family, so am dependent on finding other connections for my Robert Henry Newton b. abt. 1818 somewhere in North Carolina and d. after 1881 in one of the eastern Kansas counties. I have found valuable leads to ancestors by looking at the places where NEWTONs in the DNA project were born and married -- i.e. Robert was born in NC, probably married in KY. Also, I once found a gg grandparent by finding a sibling of his with the mother's maiden name as a middle name. From there, I also found other names such as a son named after an uncle. These led me to counties where I found actual documentation for those lines. I am attempting to do the same here. Here are some notes I've made while researching this gg grandfather, Robert Henry NEWTON. Looking at them can you see any possible connection to your Newtons? Robert moved his family to Logan County, Ky. in the winter of 1844, and to Holt County, Mo., in the winter of 1850. After farming one year in Holt County, Robert took the management of the Government Mission Farm at Highland, Kan., one year (the Indian School). He next farmed in De Kalb County, Mo., and then moved to Buchanan County and remained there until he came to Kansas in 1855.
