According to info from my mother years ago my maternal gggrandfather was "Elijah Sir Issac Newton". I often wonder if the "Sir" got placed in their through misreading the name, ie if it was not Elijah S Issac Newton? At any rate Elijah married a Mary Catherine, last name unknown. Elijah listed as born in Iowa, while Mary Catherine born in IN. Elijah & Mary C's son, MARION PHOENIX NEWTON, born Feb 1858 in Iowa, was my gggrandfather, who in turn married MARY CATHERINE GRAHAM born in Iowa. Marion & Mary's son, ROY FREEMAN NEWTON, was my great grandfather, born Dec 1886, Wathena, Doniphan Co, KS. He married MABEL CRYSTINE BERGREN, b Jan 1895 IA. Roy & Mabel's dau, CATHERINE L NEWTON, was my grandmother, b May 1911, died Feb 1991. I have found this family on one census, 1920 Polk Co, IA. which indicates ROY F NEWTON'S parents to be from MO and KS, Mabel's both from Sweden (wrong info, mother was born in IA, father SW).
