    3. Hi Folks, We recently got a perfect match for our existing "Type 'S' " DNA. This came as no surprise, since the folks involved had the same putative ancestry trace, etc. The most recent common ancestor of the two is John E. Newton (03 Feb 1809 - 02 Aug 1881). I have seen him listed also as John Allen Newton, which makes me wonder if he may not have been John Ethan Allen Newton, but that's wild speculation on my part. The new sample is being tested at many more markers than the original, and given the exact match thus far, and seeing nothing complicating about the line, it seems that a "DNA litmus test" will be gained for this John E. Newton. Anyway, John is said to descend from Peter Newton (1755-1823), of St. Margaret Parish, and last of the area given in the subject line. Further testing should help illuminate this line and others. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gbonner/newtondna/ Best, Gregg Bonner NEWTON Surname DNA Project Group Administrator --------------------------------- Get your own web address.
