    3. Hi Bill, It has taken me awhile to get back to you about my Canadian Newtons - In 1871 Census I have a Samuel Newton who I believe is the father of my John Newton - He had two wives - the first Margaret Brown and the second Anne Newcombe. He had 6 children. They were in the Mono, Cardwell district at this time. I have a newpaper obit for John Newton (1835 - 1929) that states he lived all of his life in Ontario. The census and the obit indicate that these Newton's considered themselves Irish - I'm not sure if they originally came from England or Scotland and then Ireland - but then I haven't figured out how to trace them to Ireland yet either! I think from what I have that we have two different John Newtons. In 1881 my John Newton would have been about 46 years. Thanks for writing though! I'm posting this to everyone in the hopes of someone finding a possible link.
