    1. DNA of Rev. Roger Newton of Connecticut
    2. Gregg Bonner
    3. Hi Folks, We have our first DNA test result from a participant who claims descent from Rev. Roger Newton (~1608-1683) of Connecticut. It is interesting to note that the sample matched our existing "Type R" DNA group. We have 2 type Rs sampled at 25 markers, and the new sample was only 12 markers, so it remains to be seen whether those types will diverge (a la the group O divergence we saw recently) or whether it will stay one line. I believe that I will be able to report to you the results of upgraded testing in the coming weeks. What we need now is another bona fide descentant of Roger Newton, through a line other than the line of his son, John. I understand Roger had other sons named Samuel and Roger (at least) who had children, so perhaps one of them leaves descendants today along the all-male line who could be tested.
