What is the source of information that the Peter Newton, who fought in Clark's Illinois Regiment, did you find where he enlisted in Caroline Co. VA? This is supposedly my ancestor, the father of Peter Newton, Jr., whose son is John E. Newton, my gr-grandfather. He rec'd a land grant in Clark's Grant in southern Indiana, but sold it, and purchased land from the State of Kentucky that was in Mercer Co., KY.
