I've "rescued" an old photograph of Francis Locke NEWTON which was taken at the Photographie Parisienne Studio in Oakland, California. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Francis noted as 8 months old at the time it was taken. Based on limited research and thanks to the help of NEWTON Family Researchers I was able to locate the family in census records and gather the following information regarding the family: 1900 census of Oakland, CA: George F. NEWTON, age 39, married 16 years, born IA, parents born IA, a Fireworks Merchant Helen C. NEWTON, wife, age 39, married 16 years, 2 children/2 living, born NY, parents born NY Francis L. NEWTON, son, age 10, born CA Kenneth NEWTON, son, age 9, born CA Bertha NEWTON, dau, age 20, born KS, parents born IA, a Fireworks Co. Bookkeeper Sadie E. STEWART, servant, age 20, born CA, parents born WI/IL, a Private Family Servant 1920 census of Oakland Township, CA: George F. NEWTON, age 49, born IA, parents born USA, a Fireworks Manufacturer Avis NEWTON, wife, age 37, born CA, parents born USA Francis NEWTON, son, age 20, born CA, parents born IA/ME Kenneth NEWTON, son, age 19, born CA, parents born IA/ME Mary MARA, servant, age 60, born England, to USA 1890, parents born Ireland, a Private Family Cook Francis registered for the draft in 1918 while living in Piedmont, CA. Francis was married to Phyllis GRAHAM though there is no indication that they had any children and he died in April 1974 in Belvedere Tiburon, CA. I am hoping to locate someone from his family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of his family.
