Raymond, My name is Patricia Newton, Brown. My ancestors came from Greenbriar, Virginia to Kentucky and from there went to all points West ! however, I do believe some of the children of the ones who stayed in Greenbriar, Va. (Now W. Va. ) may have gone to both the Carolinas. I have seen the Newtons in both the Carolinas for a long time now and so many names are the same in my family that I feel there must be a tie somehow, although I have yet to find it ! Here is what I think, I feel like some of the children of either William or James Newton from Greenbriar, Va. went to the Carolinas. Either that or some of the grandchildren. If I wwre you I would get into the Greenbriar, West Va. Genweb site and do some posting and see if I could get some response from that source !
