I've "rescued" an old photograph of Louise NEWTON of Brooklyn, Pennsylvania which was taken at the Bailey & McCausland Normal School Studio in Mansfield, PA. The photograph was likely taken in the 1890's as other photographs recovered in the same group include reference to the "Class of 1896". Louise appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Louise and her family: Ella Louise NEWTON b. 15 Aug 1876 in Brooklyn, PA to parents James M. NEWTON (b. 1822 in Groton, CT) and Eveline SLAUSON. The couple had 4 children including, Dora; Fanny; Edward W.; and Louise NEWTON all born in Brooklyn, PA between 1858 and 1875. Ella Louise married Frank William GORHAM (b. 21 Jul 1878 in Orwell Township, PA) on 30 Nov 1905 in PA and together they had a daughter Ruth GORHAM b. 16 Dec 1911 in Warren, PA. Census records provide the following information: 1880 census of Brooklyn, PA: James NEWTON, age 59, born CT, a Farmer, parents born CT Evaline NEWTON, wife, age 43, born CT, Keeping House, parents born CT Fannie NEWTON, dau, age 15, born PA, at Home Edwin NEWTON, son, age 12, born PA, Works on Farm Louese NEWTON, dau, age 4, born PA Fred HOHN, other, age 38, born Germany, Works on Farm, parents born Germany Mary PERIGO, other, age 21, born PA, parents born PA I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place, with family.
