Gregg, Yes I know that is a good idea about the Newton list, but I have discovered there is a lot of people out there that has not subscribed to the list, I was amazed at the number. Also I have had discusion groups before, and other people who were not interested in that line got tired of seeing our post. I have not found to many interested parties on the Newton list, pertaining to our John Newton. I will post to the list also and that way everyone will see. Thanks for your input. Thanks for making the DNA more clear, will be sure to correct. Gregg Bonner <greggbonner@yahoo.com> wrote: Hi Gay, et al., Why not use this list [NEWTON-L] for this purpose, rather than creating your own list for this purpose? That way, everyone who wants to see the information, even people who are yet to become interested in genealogy (i.e., future NEWTON genealogists) can see the information by checking the archives, or reading the list mail. Subscribers to this list who aren't interested in the information can hit the delete button just like they do for other instances. By putting it on the list, people who come along later can search via GOOGLE (or whatever search engine) and find the information. By creating a private list, people won't have that opportunity, and the information will be hidden from some. As far as the DNA results, I do not think the DNA proved that John had children with Naomi. What the DNA did was to demonstrate that Larkin Newton was a genetic relative to the other children of John Newton. But this says nothing about Naomi. The idea that Larkin's mother was Naomi is merely the SIMPLEST interpretation that takes into account the facts of the matter, but it is by no means the only possible one. While there is an absence of evidence to the contrary (for example, Larkin could have been born out-of-wedlock to any female of the era), that does not mean there is evidence of absence.
