Hi Folks, Those of you who have followed along with the growth of the NEWTON Surname DNA Project know that each "new" type of NEWTON DNA gets its own category, or node, and that the letters increment as that happens. Well, we have reached "Z", and so I guess I'll need to give some thought to what to do now. I guess next will be "AA". Inelegant, to be sure, but these are good problems to have. This dilemma is much better than being this far down the road and only having a few types tested. The type "Z" NEWTON DNA is associated with a participant who claims descent from one Israel Newton, born circa 1790, Wayne County, Kentucky, died circa 1840, Cole County, Missouri. As more sample come in, we hope to confirm this data, confirm results from other shared descents, and to get even more new types in. The project also has six samples tested for whom the claimed descent has not been identified AND/OR the consent to publish the results has not yet been given. I hope that those will be added to the project homepage soon. The homepage is here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gbonner/newtondna/ Best, Gregg
Hi Gregg, Just wanted to advise you I have ordered an upgrade to 67 markers. I told Myron Newton about it and he ordered his upgrade also. I am also in the Scot DNA project. I guess some of the FTDNA people are going to Scotland this summer during the their large clan gathering.
