Does anyone on the list have connections to a NEWTON family living in the east end of London in England in the early 1800's? Thomas Edward and Sarah NEWTON whose abode was Ratcliff Highway. Father's Trade: Slop Seller (working aprons, clothes etc) they had at least two children - 1.. Sarah NEWTON b. 5 Dec 1811 and 2.. Edward Thomas NEWTON (my gg grandfather) b. 28th November 1813 and baptised 26 Dec 1813 at St George in the East, Tower Hamlets, County of Middlesex (London) in England. Edward Thomas Newton came to Australia in about 1832, firstly to Tasmania before coming to Victoria where he was living at Melbourne c.1836 to 1843. He moved to Alberton in the South Gippsland district of Victoria in 1843, where he died in 1882.
