Hi folks I am trying to find out information about the following family, who are related to my family: I am trying to locate John and Phyllis Newton who emigrated from England to Vancouver in the 1920'. The Salvation Army helped them find a home in Stanley Park and employment in the fruit growing district of Penticton Valley. They both then became members of the Salvation Army. They had 3 sons, Rodney, Godfrey and Phillip. Rodney and Godfrey became Salvation Army Officers tho I am not sure if any of them had children. Enquiries have been made with the Salvation Army with the following results: "The only records which we have been able to find in our archives are for Godfrey, Whinfrey Newton whose parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Newton who lived at 1370 East 36th Ave. Vancouver B.C. in 1958. Godfrey became a Salvation Army officer in 1959 and his last appointment prior to resigning was as a missionary to Zambia. He was married to Beth Mae Edwards and they had two children, David Gerald born 18.05.54 and Lynne Patricia born 28.05 60. His last known address was Reverend Godfrey Newton, 10475 Oakgate Street, Surrey, BC V4N 1W7 This is the extent of our information relative to your enquiry. Sorry we could not have been more helpful." If anybody has any information on them or what happened to them it would be greatfully received. Regards Tony Fuller & Tanya Avetoomyan
