Jim, concerning the family of George Newton, do you know anything about the siblings of George, if there were any, and if so, who they were ? I am a Newton and have a long line traced back to Joseph Newton who went from Monmouth County, New Jersey to Virginia. I am trying to get information on his parents . I know his father was also named Joseph and was a blacksmith. Joseph Jr. was born in 1724 so I suppose his father was born around the early part of 1700's. Please email me directly if you have anything to share or would like my complete line and dates ! Thanks, Patricia Newton, Brown
I hope the mail list will indulge me for taking the space to comment about the experience Jim Ward and I recently had concerning genealogy information. By hitting "Reply", a message I meant to be private was sent to the NEWTON mailing list instead of just to Jim requesting that certain information be deleted from his site. Jim has very graciously disabled the link which contained the information on some of my living family members and has publicly apologized. When I was first learning about computers and the genealogy information that was available online, Jim was one of the first contacts I had and was most kind and helpful to me. Through my inexperience, I did not limit the number of generations sent or request that the information on living people be kept off line, which I now do. Maybe our experience will help newcomers and remind the experienced 'searchers' of what can happen. Having said this, I want to congratulate Jim on his site -- it represents a lot of work and I know it will assist many searching for their ancestors. I look forward to his NEWTON- SPRINGER site being back online and am sure others will appreciate it, too. Thank you, Peggy J. Horton
Peggy: I am very sorry to have inadvertently made the information public that you wanted to keep private. It is entirely my mistake and I will correct the information content of the Newton family line to reflect your wishes as soon as possible. In the meantime, I will disable the Newton family link tonight until I can actually get the other part done. Again, my sincerest apologies...I am not in the habit of making an error of this magnitude. Jim, For the same reasons I stated in my earlier e-mail regarding the NEWTON CHART, I must ask that you also delete all references to our family from and including GENERATION 5 on down on your SPRINGER chart. And also on the GENERATION 4 chart, please delete the information regarding the spouse of child #vii and the birth date of #26 Mildred Olivia Joice STATHAM. Thank you, Peggy J. Horton

I am not Penny or Mark, but I am a Newton. Who was Uriah and where is he from. Do you have any information on Seaborn ( Seabern or Seab ) Newton. He married my great grandmother in 1872 in Clarke Co., Al. He later left her with a brood of children and my Daddy found him somewhere around 1947 in Meredian, Mississippi. As you can guess everyone is deceased who had any knowledge and I was 2 years old in 1947. My head is sore from hitting brick walls. I do not even know his full name. Would love to hear from you. Thank you for your response. I would be thrilled if you have information on my Edward Newton and his family, including father Thomas. I don't know much about them prior to emigration - do not even have what I consider to be a complete list of siblings. I'll look forward to hearing from you, however I am not Penny and Mark. I read a posting about Uriah Newton that was posted by Penny and Mark. They wrote and asked me to write back but my computer had crashed. After I got the #$%^& thing fixed and tried to respond the e-mail address came back as undeliverable. Please write me again. I may have some information for you.
It has been awhile so I will post my Newton family again; First of all the info that I was given to begin with stated that my John was born ca 1795-1806? in St. Lawrence Co., NY. But I have found in his son's census records that he was born in England or Canada, so I don't know which is right. John Newton was married to Elizabeth ______ either in New York or Ohio. I don't have any dates for her. I think they are both buried in Mahaska County, Iowa. They had the following children; 1-Henry born 11 April, 1839 in Toldeo, Ohio m- #1 Mary Catharine Gibbons #2 Mary Catharine Goodemote? 2- Sarah born ca 1841/42 in Iowa m- Andrew J. Waldorf 3- Mary born ca 1843 / 45 in Iowa 4- Isaac born ca 1845 / 47 5- Jasper born 4 April, 1849 Eddyville, Wapello County, Iowa m- Mary A. Meadows 6- Louisa born 6 Sept, 1850 Mahaska County, Iowa 7- Elizabetha born ca 1854 Mahaska County, Iowa 8- Samuel born 30 July, 1856 Mahaska County, Iowa Nora [email protected]

Su, I wish oh how I wish we were looking for the same family. My John and Elizabeth both died in Mahaska County, Iowa. I think they had about 7 or 8 kids. My line was Henry who had about 6 kids from #1 marriage and about 6 from marriage #2 then his son John Henry had about 7 children of which my husband's grandmother was one. Nora, My NEWTONS were New Yorkers also, but arrived in 1860 from London. I believe that they were preceeded by relatives so I'll run some of my tree past you, just in case, I corresponded with Su about a year ago, so am pretty positive that we do not have any connection beyond the fact that our Newtons were Jewish and from England. --My ggrandparents, Joseph and Adelaide NEWTON were born in the 1860s and lived in Brooklyn until their deaths. They were the parents of Leah, Jacob, Joseph, Muriel, Lucille and Louis. --Joseph NEWTON's parents were John(Jacob) NEWTON and Elizabeth MILSOM. John and Elizabeth were born in London in 1845. They also had David and Maurice after immigrating to NY abt 1860. Elizabeth died in NY and John remarried Meta? and moved to Wilkes Barre. PA. They were born in London abt 1820 and never left. They also had Anna, Louis, Frederick, Emily, David and Edward. I don't have any information on Issac and his siblings, wife or parents yet beyond the fact that he lived in London. Mary Ann
Our Ebenezer & Elizabeth Buchanan Newton came out of Pennsylvania in 1767 to Mecklenburg County NC and bought land. All of their 7 children were born in Pa. Ebenezer was born around 1725 so from your dates I don't beleive we are from the same Newton's. There are lots of Johns is our family line. They are in almost every family and generation. Sorry. Thanks for writing will keep your names in mind. If I run across anything that I think connects will let you know.

Hi Geralene & Joe, Thanks for responding. From the 1860 Census in Sullivan Co TN , I found Thomas' family as being in Piney Flats, TN which is in the eastern part of TN and is on 11 W/E. From whereI live (Richlands, VA) I go to Bristol and Johnson City and that runs into Piney Flats,TN. I descend from Thomas, William and Loren line and my mother, Mary Newton Hall. I don't know if Thomas ever lived in NC. My grandfather, Loren, was born in Indiana, but his father, William was married in Bristol, VA. Thanks, Faye
