hmmm.. Daniel and Elizabeth - who were their children and do you know when Daniel died?
Hello: I have two of these names in my lines. I have a Daniel Jeptha Newton who in 1860 is in Taylor County, GA and joined the Taylor Guards during the civil war. Now this man's Father was Daniel also and his wife was Elizabeth and there were several children and could have been more we are not sure. So this woman could very well be one of them. If so you may pick up some information on them in Macon County, GA they and the Taylors were all living there after the Civil War. Have you ever seen the name McGlamery near her at all? As they also marry into that line in Macon Co. GA. Now it is quite possible that this is one of my Newtons or Taylors that was there and who later moved away. What do you think? Gail
Looking for an Elizabeth Newton or she possibly married a Newton. Had a daughter Margaret Anna Newton b 1845 in Madison Co., Ky (no proof). Elizabeth married a William K Taylor had a son Alfred N Taylor in 1854 possibly in Dayton, Ohio. Margaret Anna Newton also used the last name of Taylor. She had three boys by a William Moore and eventually married Henry Dupler Wyman. They lived in Dayton Ohio on a riverboat where she gave birth to Thomas Benjamin Harry Wyman in 1892.
Probably, but I have no information on these names nor my line much. I know they definitely had family in Fulton Co, Ill and also some in Iowa. I will print this and if we can ever link, that would be great but I have so little right now and seem to get nowhere. Best wishes, Dottie
Rich, I don't think I have a connection to this person, but I am searching for William George Newton, who lived in Davenport, WA in 1905 - 1920 (approx). He was born in Muscatine Co, IA in 1858 to Perry M. Newton (b. ~1817 PA) and Rebecca Holler. In 1889 he was in Fulton Co, IL, where my grandmother, Nell Newton was born. Could we possibly have a connection? Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck with my family in the UK. However, I'm mainly interested in Newton's that migrated to Australia in the later 1800's and early 1900's. Problem is, he does not have any documentation and belongs to the "if it don't fit force it" club so I question his research. I would like to ask if anyone has a Newton family from Lincolshire who had a Rueben Newton, Sr., 1750. He was in Caswell Co, NC and Persons Co. NC in 1770. Rueben, Sr. died in Hardin Co., Ky. abt. 1820. I have reason to believe he had brothers named Benjamin and Peter Newton who are shown on the Mercer Co. 1800 Census with one of Rueben, Sr. daughters named Rachel. She is listed as a widow. Thanks. I'm new to these lists and wanted to say hello. I'm a descendent of Maude B.B. CLINE (b. May 12, 1874 in Aurora, Lawrence, MO) and Albert Lee WILFLEY (b. Oct. 19, 1863 in Aurora, Lawrence, Missouri). Maude and Albert were my maternal g-grandparents. Maude was the daughter of John Franklin CLINE (b. Jan. 29, 1850 - d. Dec. 16, 1933 in Aurora, Lawrence, MO) and Melvina STARK (b. Abt 1853), also of Aurora. Albert Lee was the son of James WILFLEY (b. Oct. 11, 1805 in Hawkins County, Tennessee) and Martha Jane BRIDWELL (b. Abt. 1838 in Virginia), who was, I believe, his second wife. (I believe his first wife was Elizabeth Jane KELSO (b. July 5, 1810 in Montgomery County Kentucky), who's sister, Mariah, was mother of the infamous CLANTON gang of Tombstone, AZ.) Melvina (or Malona?) was the daughter of Festus STARK (b. Feb 16, 1816 in Allen County, Kentucky) and Lucinda Elizabeth JAMESON (b. Abt. 1817 in Allen County, Kentucky). Albert's son, Darold Eugene WILFLEY (b. 1919 Aurora, MO - d. 2000 Springfield, MO) married Elda Adel NEWTON (b. May 9, 1921 - d. Oct. 1975), daughter of Burl NEWTON (b. March 1, 1903 - d. Oct. 13, 1951) and Nellie Emmalina FORRESTER of Marionville, Lawrence, MO (b.Oct. 22, 1904-d. Jan. 29, 1990) Burl was the son of Albert NEWTON (d. Abt. 1949 in Marionville, MO) and Blanche Gertrude GRAHAM (all unknown). Nellie was the daughter of John FORRESTER (d. Abt. 1950) and Rachel UNKNOWN/possibly LEMASTER (d. Abt. 1963 in Marionville, Lawrence MO). I'm new to most of these lists, except STARK-L, and have no original documentation for any of this information -- most of it's from family. I hope some of this sounds familiar to some of you. I'd love to hear from anyone who's familiar with the branches of the families mentioned (especially relatives!!!), or anyone who might have supporting documents. Also, if sending this e-mail out to everyone and their brother violates some kind of -L etiquette, I apologize in advance. Mark Haviland [email protected]
