    2. I am almost positive that George Newton of Virginia is the father of the James Newton that married Sarah Clark. The name George Newton is on their marriage certificate as father of the groom. I've looked and looked for information on Sarah, but can only guess at her parentage. Most sources say she was born in England, but I kind of doubt that. I have two brothers, who could do the DNA test, but neither is interested in genealogy and I can't afford the fee to send them the kit. Maybe sometime. Thanks for your information. Sandy Perry

Bryan Newton is the one who sent his DNA in and we thank him for that. Bryan is a descendant of William Newton who md Priscila? William was the son of John and Mary Mitchell Newton and brother to Isaac and Henry my line of Newton's who were in Newberry Co, S.C. Clues to work with: John was born ca 1750's, place unknown. 3. Hi Sandy, Does the marriage certificate say "father of the groom" explicitly, or is the name considered implicitly to be that of the father? As far as the DNA test goes, I'd be willing to bet that if you could convince your kin to be tested, someone else could be convinced to help defray your cost of the test. That's not a promise, just a hunch. Best, Gregg --- JPerry927@aol.com wrote: > I am almost positive that George Newton of Virginia > is the father of the > James Newton that married Sarah Clark. My Newton line descends from my great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Newton born in Tn., daughter of William Clark Newton and Sarah Hatten Acree. Do you know how they may connect? Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide. Sandy

    3. Hi Sandy, I have just looked over your WorldConnect database, and from what you have there, I can only say that I don't think we have your line of NEWTON represented in the DNA Project. We had a couple of folks claim descent from the same patriarch, but their DNA didn't match...so that is on hold until we get another sample. It seems to me reasonable to suggest William Clark Newton was descended from James Newton and Sarah (Clark) Newton. I think it would be good to get one sample from the line of James (born 1766) and one sample from the line of his brother John (born 1793). Probably even better would be one from James W., and one from his brother George (i.e., one generation closer to present than the prior suggestion). There should be plenty of male NEWTONs from this line. I would really like to get a sample from this line, and also from the Essex County line, if anyone can show proof of such descent. 3. I recently acquired the Civil War pension records of Daniel H. Newton, who I discovered is probably not related to my Newton line. Daniel was living in the southern part of Wisconsin when he died, having moved there from N.J. sometime after 1855. His second wife's name was Esther, his first wife Ann died in 1848. Daniel's two sons died in the Civil War, and his pension application stated he had no living children as of 1898. Anybody interested in this file? 3. Hi Bill, It has taken me awhile to get back to you about my Canadian Newtons - In 1871 Census I have a Samuel Newton who I believe is the father of my John Newton - He had two wives - the first Margaret Brown and the second Anne Newcombe. He had 6 children. They were in the Mono, Cardwell district at this time. I have a newpaper obit for John Newton (1835 - 1929) that states he lived all of his life in Ontario. The census and the obit indicate that these Newton's considered themselves Irish - I'm not sure if they originally came from England or Scotland and then Ireland - but then I haven't figured out how to trace them to Ireland yet either! I think from what I have that we have two different John Newtons. In 1881 my John Newton would have been about 46 years. Thanks for writing though! I'm posting this to everyone in the hopes of someone finding a possible link. 3. Hi Folks, Is there anyone on this list who descends from George Newton and Frances (Mason) Newton? George Newton was born circa 1640s, and died about 1695, Norfolk County, Virginia. I am trying to find a descendant along the all-male line of NEWTON to represent this line in the DNA Project. I appreciate any leads, etc. Cheers, Gregg Bonner __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
