    1. [NEWTON] Help needed Stephen NEWTON
    2. Michele Porter
    3. Hi List, I need help with searching for a death date/place/certificate my great grandfather Stephen Thomas NEWTON b. around 1859-1864, in either Carlton or Melbourne Victoria d. I think in VIC after 1941 as advised by VIC BDM (states his wife's marital status at death was still married which would indicate he was still alive). His wife Mary Ann NOONAN b. 1867 Spring Creek, VIC d. 05/05/1941 Northcote, VIC, buried Fawkner cemetery, VIC. They were married around 06/07/1887 St Peter & Pauls church, South Melbourne, VIC. Stephen's parents on his marriage certificate are John NEWTON b. and Jane, Mary or Anne Murphy (hard to read). I really need help with finding out when and where he died as VIC BDM cannot find any record for him, they suggested I ring the cemetery his wife was buried in (Fawkner Cemetery,VIC) and I did but he is not there (they tried under the names Stephen, Thomas and John) , they were very helpful though and gave me 3 other big cemetery phone numbers to try which I will try tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions as to my next step it would be much appreciated. Michele Porter.
