My Sarah A Newton was the daughter of Israel Newton & Sarah Mussick. She was born in Wayne, Kentucky and died in Miller, Missouri. I had her married to a John Denton. I' don't believe they are the same ladies. My relationship is through Israel, William Carroll Newton, William Bill Newton, Millard Newton, & Millard Arthur Newton. Do you see any connection? Any other help you can give me with the Newton's would be greatly appreciated. I can't get beyond Israel Newton. Thanks so much and Happy New Year. Hi folks, I know that Sarah A. Newton b. abt. 1847 in KY married someone named Brown because in her younger brother's will she is mentioned as "to my sister Sarah Brown..." I am looking for proof that the Sarah A. Newton who married ? Brown is the person in the below 1880 census record. I do not have a clue if this is Sarah Newton but it seems likely. Her age is right and birth places of parents are correct. Hello, Looking for information on a Ann M. Newton married John Crow 5 Jan 1814 in Washington DC Thanks ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
I do not know this individual, nor am I connected as far as I know, but I received the following from the NECASS (Cass Co., Nebraska, USA) list. As in the newspaper: Plattsmouth Journal, Thursday, April 8, 1915 IN PLATTSMOUTH FORTY YEARS AGO Clark NEWTON has bought a lot opposite the Catholic church and is building a neat little house, and not so very little, either. Good idea, Clark. A home of your own is a first-rate thing to have. Judy jryden@charter.net A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
I hope no one minds, but since I live in Wilson County, Texas, I wanted to straighten out what appears to be a misconception about the location of Concrete Cemetery in the statement "Concrete Cemetery, La Vernia, Guadalupe County, Texas." Concrete Cemetery is located about two miles north of downtown LaVernia on FM 775 in Guadalupe County, Texas. The cemetery is about a half mile inside Guadalupe County. It is very near La Vernia, but LaVernia is located in Wilson County, Texas. The confusion may have come from the statement about the cemetery's location on Interment.net, which is "Located two miles north of downtown LaVernia on FM 775, Guadalupe County, Texas." Thanks. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Francis Locke NEWTON which was taken at the Photographie Parisienne Studio in Oakland, California. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Francis noted as 8 months old at the time it was taken. Based on limited research and thanks to the help of NEWTON Family Researchers I was able to locate the family in census records and gather the following information regarding the family: 1900 census of Oakland, CA: George F. NEWTON, age 29, born June 1870, married 5 years, born IA, parents born IA, a Gun Manufacturer Helen M. NEWTON, wife, age 29, born Oct 1870, married 5 years, 1 child/1 living, born NY, parents born NY Francis L. NEWTON, son, age 1, born May 1898, born CA 1910 census of Oakland Township, CA: George F. NEWTON, age 39, married 16 years, born IA, parents born IA, a Fireworks Merchant Helen C. NEWTON, wife, age 39, married 16 years, 2 children/2 living, born NY, parents born NY Francis L. NEWTON, son, age 10, born CA Kenneth NEWTON, son, age 9, born CA Bertha NEWTON, dau, age 20, born KS, parents born IA, a Fireworks Co. Bookkeeper Sadie E. STEWART, servant, age 20, born CA, parents born WI/IL, a Private Family Servant 1920 census of Oakland Township, CA: George F. NEWTON, age 49, born IA, parents born USA, a Fireworks Manufacturer Avis NEWTON, wife, age 37, born CA, parents born USA Francis NEWTON, son, age 20, born CA, parents born IA/ME Kenneth NEWTON, son, age 19, born CA, parents born IA/ME Mary MARA, servant, age 60, born England, to USA 1890, parents born Ireland, a Private Family Cook Francis registered for the draft in 1918 while living in Piedmont, CA. Francis was married to Phyllis GRAHAM though there is no indication that they had any children and he died in April 1974 in Belvedere Tiburon, CA. I am hoping to locate someone from his family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of his family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Larry, The book "Cemeteries of Wilson County, Texas (Over 130 Cemeteries and Burial Plots)" by Irma M. Meyr, self-published 1990, no copyright date, no publisher named, states on page 297 the following information about Elviry Newton (that's how it's spelled in two places in this book): (see Elviry Reynolds). Then under Elviry Reynolds it states on page 299 the following (in addition to the date of birth and death, with an incorrect death year of 1831): "born in Ms., died in Guadalupe Co., Marr. James Newton 22 Dec. 1831 in Greene Co., Ms." I forgot to add this information in my first e-mail. Sorry. Larry, I live in Wilson County, Texas. I found a James Newton (born ~1810 in Georgia) in the 1880 Census of Wilson County, Texas. He is shown with his wife named Mary, age 46. See the end of my message. I don't know if this is the person you're seeking or not. It would be more helpful if you gave more information such as his children's name, wife's approximate date of birth, etc. However, I think the people you want are just below. You can check out this link at Interment .net http://www.interment.net/data/us/tx/guadalupe/concrete/concrete.htm You will also find the same information in text form in the Texas GenWeb page for Guadalupe County, Texas at the link http://www.rootsweb.com/~txguadal/index.html Click on Cemeteries and then Concrete Cemetery. I hope you will find the information interesting and informative. Shirley Grammer did the reading of this cemetery. She is a member of the Wilson County Historical Society with me. If I can be of any other help, let me know. Ernest Young Floresville, TX ---------- Concrete Cemetery, Guadalupe Co., Texas --- The cemetery is located two miles north of downtown La Vernia on FM 775, Guadalupe County, Texas. The first burial was Joel Wooten Newton on January 16, 1856. James Henry Newton came to the southeastern part of Guadalupe County, Texas 1851-52 from Mississippi. Joel wooten Newton came ca. 1854. James Henry Newton (brother of Joel) became a prosperous farmer and rancher. At the time of Joel's death, James Henry Newton designated a plot of land on his ranch as a family cemetery. He officially deeded the two-acre tract on September 21, 1875 "to the good citizens of the surrounding community for the interment of the deceased". The Concrete Cemetery Association was established March 30, 1955. On August 31, 1971, Mrs. Alice Warren Scull, widow of the late Dr. Charles Elam Scull, deeded 3.44 acres to the Concrete Cemetery Association and on November 23, 1992, Dr. C.E. Scull, III (grandson of Dr. and Mrs. C.E. Scull) deeded 1.374 acres to the association bringing the total acreage to 6.814 acres.*** The following census has been submitted by Shirley Grammer P.O. Hi Judy, I'll sent you to a link from my family tree on Geneology.com My William Carroll was born in Wayne Ky, in 1828 and moved first to Ark. and then to Kansas during the Civil War. His Father was Israel who was married to two different ladies, Rachel Jenkins and then Sarah Mussick. Israel was born in Wayne Kentucky in 1795 and died in Cole County, Missouri in 1839. His Father was William I believe, but know nothing else about him. Love to learn if there is connection.
