It is possible that he had been in the United States prior to this. The first sibling was probably in upstate New York prior to 1830. Mary Nathan m. John Bellow in Holland, New York prior to 1822 and settled in New Orleans. Jeanetta m. Gunst in New Orleans.

Hello Penny: Well, I may be working on this line. My William Wilkins Newton was born @ 1810 in TN we think. He is found in Madison Co. AR. in 1850 and 1860. John Newton age of 73 is also found in madison Co. AR in the 1850 census. However he is listed with I presume is a daughter Malina who lists her age at 30. I sure hope this is the one you have. Hello, My gggrandfather Charles Newton was born in NC. in 1810 and lived in ARK from the 1850s to 1867 when the whole clan migrated to TX. His father's name was John, and he made the trip to Tx and died there shortly thereafter. It means he would have been 90 in 1867 which is unlikely but not impossible. Information on John Frank or Jim Newton born in North Carolina, died prior to 1915 in or around Sevier Co., Arkansas, married -- Flora Ann? Children of John and Flora Belle Newton? Jim Newton? Linda (Lindy) Newton 1887 NC-Janurary 22, 1943, married Dudley Jones February 22, 1902, in Marlow Sevier Co., AR. Children of Lindy & Dudley---Houston Ellis, Cecil Orbry, Clyde Odis,Fletcher Forest, Louis Carl& Louis Carroll, Inez? John owned land in AR, possibly had to sell off some land because he was in some kind of trouble with the law. Flora Ann was admitted to an Arkansas Mental Hospital in 1915, one week after losing a grandchild? Flora was there until her death in 1933. Records indicate that there were no visitors, why?
