    2. Jane, I have an Elizabeth Newton in my direct line born to Joseph and Helena Newton on Aug.15,1756. Have another one born to Allen B. and Rachel Newton in Ky. in 1849 most likely in Owsley or Lee County, Kentucky. These are the only two I have around that time. Hope this helps a little ! 2. Nancy, I found it in Randolph County site last year. It said they along with Kenneth Anderson Newton, brother of Sarah, sued William Newton for their respective shares of brother James Newtons estate after he was killed ! They didn't stay in Missouri though and you have answwered a big question for me ! I wondered where they went ! Do you have their childrens names or any other info on them ? I will be in Ohio in a week and half, maybe can hop on over to Indianna ! Let me know, Pat

    3. If this repeats, I apologize. While typing, my screen suddenly vanished and I have no idea where it went - if it was sent or what. Seeking info on ROY FREEMAN NEWTON, b Dec 1886 Wathena, Doniphan County, KS. According to info from my mother, Roy's parents were MARION PHOENIX NEWTON (b Feb 1858) and MARY CATHERINE GRAHAM (no info). Both were supposedly born in Iowa, but no verification, and I did find one census listing Roy's siblings birthplaces as Nebraska and Kansas. According to my mother's info Marion's parents are listed as "Elijah Sir Issac Newton" and another Mary Catherine, no surname, no info. Roy married Mabel C. Bergren, b Jan 1895 Iowa. My grandmother, Catherine L. Newton, was born May 1911 in Kensington, Smith County, KS. One sister was born Nov 1912 Agra, Phillips county, KS; and last siblings born in Iowa 1914 and 1916 respectively. One remains alive and I have talked w/ her but she has told me what she can or will. Mabel C. Bergren's parents are indicated to be Peter Bergren, b 1860 in Sweden and Lena Larsen, b Sept 1864 in Centerville,IA. One census I found the family on lists the mother as "Irma" born in Sweden 1869, immigrated 1882 but my grandmother's sister has no idea who this woman was, indicates their grandmother was Lena Larsen, not Irma. Anyone familiar with this Newton line please contact me. Kim Foltz ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    2. Kim, I think but have no proof that this Kansas line of Newtons may be descended from my Newton line ! My fifth great grandfather was Joseph Newton born in Monmouth County, New Jersey in 1724, His father was also named Joseph but that and the fact they were both Blacksmiths and could read and write quite well is abuout all I know about the Senior Joseph. From Joseph Jr. to the present generations I have quite a bit on my direct line though. I think a lot of the Grandchildren and children of Joseph and his wife Helena went West though. I have found or been found by lots of extended line "cousins in Texas, Utah, and Calif. So why not Knsas too ! Some of the names in the children of Joseph Jr. and Helean are as follows : Hannah, Elizabeth, Thomas, James, William, Kenneth Anderson, Sarah, Anna, and Lewis. I know Sarah married George Kenneth Blake and at one time had moved to Randolf County, Missouri. Joseph and Helena had left N.J. and gonmne to Greenbriar County, Va. which is now part of West Virginia. They have a wonderful Genweb Site there and you may find some answers in it too. I will keep .looking and if I find anything, will certainly let you know ! Sincerly, Patricia Newton, Brown

    3. Trish, you say you have a lot of NEWTONs. Do you know anything about David NEWTON about 1811 (probably in SC) and died before 1870. He was married to Lydia Elizabeth JOINER about 1858. She could have been a second wife, since he was 30 years older than she. They had several children: Lenore b. 1859 William Preston b. July 01, 1860 (my g.g.grandfather) David B. b. 1862 Mary [Molly] b. 1866 David was gone by the 1870 Horry County, SC Census. Lydia is listed as Eliza (her middle name is Elizabeth] Yarborough. She is married to John N. Yarborough. They have a 9-month old baby named Martha. Any information on these NEWTONs? bp ----- Original Message ----- From: Trish Newton <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 19, 1999 2:24 PM Subject: Re: James Newton hi i have alot of newtons ,,, do u have anything on line that i could look for link............ ----- Original Message ----- From: by way of "Brian J. 1. Re: James Newton
    2. Trish I sent you an out line I have of the family. In an Newton Book prepared by a historical socity states James Newton born in england and died at age of ninty four. He was a sea captin and settled on the east coast of Maryland probably Dorchester County in 1740. Apparently the Newton family passed through South Carolina, as the Fairfield census ,1800 shows Newtons living in their community. James Newton killed the first Elk ever in Fairfield County. He married possibly an Aris(ayres). they had fourteen boys and two girls among them James. this doesnt exacly fit with the Jasper County book of cementarys and Bible. It goes on to say James Newton Jr , son of James Newton , who resided in Virginia until 1790, was born before 1775 and died in Jasper County Ga, between 1823 and1830 My outline is what I have peaced together form the Jasper County records , some records from my family , and the book Jasper County put out about Bibles and Cementaries. I dont know the exact organ of the Newton book put out by a Historical socitey these excerts were sent to me the book was purchased in 1930 by an aunt of one of our decendents. I hope this explains my confusion . There were a lot of James Newtons and I thank they have them confused as the time line and ages do not fit. dottie
