Hi All, I'm very pleased that this has started up - now maybe I'll find out who my lot were. I have a Thomas NEWITT born abt 1814 in England with a wife called Mary Ann. They came to Sth Aussie pre 1863 [nothing on shipping] Sons: John born 25 Feb 1841 London James bc 1845 ? The only reason I know John's birth date is that he gained his captain's papers while in Aussie - & it gave his birth date & place - nothing on St Cath's that match for the birth nor for a marriage :(( I've looked under various spellings.
