I just started researching my family history. So far it seems that my 2nd great grandmother (Rose Mary Boden Moonan Newitt) may have come from Ireland (as Mary Moonan on a passenger list) in 1841 eventually settling in New Orleans with my 2nd great grandfather Michael Newitt. There is a 1900 census document for my great grandfather (Andrew Vincent Newitt) that reports both his parents (above) were born in Ireland. If anyone has research of Newitt or Moonan families in Ireland or of their immigration into the US around 1840-1850, I would appreciate a response so that we can share research.
