Jack is my father. I think Cynthia was talking about Louis Andrew Newitt (1897-1976) and his wife Agatha Austin Newitt (1901-1977) in New Orleans (my grandparents on my father's side). Louis Austin (1923-2006) who moved to Houston was my uncle (and your grandfather, apparently). Agatha Louise Newitt "Tiny" (1925-2001), who resided in Nachitoches was his sister and my aunt. I just started here, but I have traced this New Orleans Newitt line to Louis Andrew Newitt's father, Andrew Vincent Newitt (1856-1905) and grandparents Michael Newitt (?) and Rose Mary Boden Moonan Newitt (1828-1906). The latter two may or may not have come to the US independently from Ireland (I found a 17 year old Irish "Mary Moonan" on a passenger list in 1841 out of Liverpool, a 25 year old Irish Mary Moonan on a passenger list in 1855 out of Liverpool, and a 17 year old Irish Mary Newitt in 1841 out of Liverpool). I would appreciate any source information that anyone can provide for how and when this branch of the Newitt family came to the US and how and when they made their way to New Orleans.
