It is designed to permanently and safely store historical and genealogical data in a guaranteed nonprofit environment. The repository is intended to be generic, that is, not affiliated with any specific project, and of course, not affiliated with commercial pay-per-view companies. Ideally, contributors from any project will be pleased with this new safe-haven for their data.
