When you download a GEDCOM file you do this and you will not have any problem Download the GEDCOM, give the file a name , save to your Cdrive, Open your FTM program, click on FILE, Click on NEW, load the GEDCOM into the new file. Read it over , decide whether you want to keep it or not, if you don't want it delete the file, if you want the file then you can merge your file and the new file together. I have been doing this since well ever since I started my research. Have any problem contact me.
