Thank you for all that responded. I knew that my FTM would open and read a gedcom, but it would not.(don't want to think I am a real dummy<G>) I found out why.....the poor fellow thought he had sent one....somehow it was not complete and he swore up and down it was my program not reading it. He said there are programs to download that would read a gedcom with out having to use your own program. I guess I should have tried harder to figure out what the problem was before I asked.
