    3. Hello, I would appreciate some clarification regarding the purpose of this mailing list. The Rootsweb description of this mailing list ( NEWGEN-L) is: NEWGEN-L "Topic: created to assist those who are quite new to genealogy. The list offers how-to's for everything from selecting software for your recordkeeping to figuring out why your computer is misbehaving. For the really new genealogist, a Mentor will be assigned to help you, not only on the list but also in finding your way to the many excellent sources on the Internet." With this in mind, I cannot see the relevance of the following, as well as many other postings made to this list which seem to be "announcing web sites". I think that a more appropriate list to post this to would be: NEW-GEN-URL-L "Topic: the posting of information on genealogy-related web sites in order to save researchers time in locating new web sites and determining the location of significant web resources. Information on web sites may be posted to the list even if the sites are not new. Postings should contain your title, full name and email address; the URL (address) of the site; and a brief description of the contents of the site. You may also include a surname list if the site is a personal web site." 3. Sorry if the article offended you. However, think anything dealing with history is usually of interest to anyone doing genealogy. Having been one of the first members of this list, have always posted sites that others might find interesting. Again, sorry if you're offended by the posting.
