Hi, I know how this is. I am adopted and was raise by non Indian parents. Or at least this is what I thought. Found out while doing genealogy that my gr grandmother was a Pawnee (full blood) Grandpa wouldn't ever admit to being any indian at all. I was lucky enough to have an Indian neighbor who taught me the beliefs, etc I would never pay anyone that kind of money to find the indian link.I know that at one point there were those out there that were giving false information. You found out when you sent the paperwork in. Oh, also some tribes only claim blood to the 1/16 , now in case of the Miami Tribes of Indianna it goes to the 1/32 . I am not sure of all requirements for each tribe.
