    1. [NEWGEN] Family Tree Maker Problem
    2. Sondra
    3. Thanks to all of you kind people for answering my question about my FTM software. I see I'm not alone in having trouble contacting the Tech Services at FTM. I was wondering if they still have the message board you post your question about the FTM software to? I even tried to find that and noticed they had changed the format on the web site. After searching for the message board to post my question to, I finally gave up and decided to call. That was not successful either. If anyone knows whether they still have the problem resolution message board, please send me an email at N2medsgene@Home.com explaining exactly how to access it. Thanks, Sondra

    3. I think a special comment is in order for the indefatigable efforts of Roy Stockdill in helping folks on this list. He, along with Cyndi and her on target answers, Sally and Rose with their always interesting URLs keep some semblance of freshness to NEWGEN. Certainly to be praised and never forgotten is Bunny who is my strong right arm and my friend who does much work behind the scenes to keep us going. THANK YOU ALL! I know I have missed a few who deserve special recognition but they will have to wait until next time (meaning, as soon as my old brain kicks in and I remember. A HUGE thank you, Roy. You see I have a black sheep on my wife's side of the family. Hew was charged with Murder in the Second Degree from Black Hawk County, Iowa. He was admitted to the institution on Oct. 29, 1904 to serve a 13 year sentence. This information was gotten from Department of Corrections, Anamosa State Penitentiary. If you know the state or better yet the penitentiary, I would write to them and see what they might have. Besides the above information it also gave his date of birth and that was all. The letter I received stated that very limited records were kept at that time. I hope this might shed some light on you question. Ed

    3. Any one from Wyoming? Mary and Don Saban (dsaban@trib.com)have put in a lot of effort to their site. Never knew there were so many interesting things about Wyoming. Check out the site below .. they also have some information on the border states of Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado. Did you know Wyoming soldiers, during the Civil War, who were from Wyoming were included in the records of Nebraska Territory. Had never given it too much thought but for members looking for someone from Wyoming during that time period, you might want to look in the records of the Nebraska Territory. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~sabthomp/wygeneo.htm Sally Sun City, AZ pavia@futureone.com "Sacred cows make the best hamburgers." 10 Oct 1780 - Great Hurricane of 1780 kills 20,000 to 30,000 in Caribbean 10 Oct 1802 - 1st non-Indian settlement in Oklahoma

    1. [NEWGEN] FTM problem
    2. Sondra
    3. I have Family Treemaker software, 7.0 version and recently had my Compaq 4640 computer upgraded with a larger ram. In the process I lost part of my icons on the top taskbar of the FTM program. The 4th, 9th, 16th and 17th task icons are now missing. Is it possible to add these again? I had thought about reloading the program but did not want to make matter worse. I also tried to call FTM but was put on hold for more than 5 minutes and since it was long distance, I might have been there all day. I also tried to contact them online but could not find where to post my help message. If anyone else has had this problem and fixed it or if someone knows what to do to restore the icons, please email me at N2medsgene@AOL.com. Thanks, Sondra

In 1878, ONE vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the Presidency of the U.S.. In 1941, ONE vote saved Selective Service - just weeks before Pearl Harbor was attacked. Please pass this information along to your family and friends.

    3. Hi, I know how this is. I am adopted and was raise by non Indian parents. Or at least this is what I thought. Found out while doing genealogy that my gr grandmother was a Pawnee (full blood) Grandpa wouldn't ever admit to being any indian at all. I was lucky enough to have an Indian neighbor who taught me the beliefs, etc I would never pay anyone that kind of money to find the indian link.I know that at one point there were those out there that were giving false information. You found out when you sent the paperwork in. Oh, also some tribes only claim blood to the 1/16 , now in case of the Miami Tribes of Indianna it goes to the 1/32 . I am not sure of all requirements for each tribe. 1. Fwd: [NEWGEN] Tracing your Indian Citizenship requirements
    2. --part1_a6.a73fd01.2713af82_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Carol, Thanks! With us it will be more difficult to prove as the family is most uncooperative, denying the Indian blood. We have had some laugh and even some "researchers" laugh about it. One even wanted to charge $1000 to research but I got bad "vibs" from that person. My great grandmother was Choctaw - her family disowned her because she married a white man. She won't show on the Dawes roll as she was born way before that (1847). Her children are not listed as Indian on any census and she identified herself as white as well. She choose to identify herself with her husband's people (Scottish). But we have no doubt she was Indian! I and one of my half brothers, are proud of the Indian blood, even if it's never really proved. My half brother is on the Chickasaw roll as his mother is Chickasaw and he really wants to know if he also is Choctaw. 1. [NEWGEN] Returning Photos to Families
    2. Sue Ellen Ash
    3. Wanted to share this with the list. We have boxes of old photos that I am now beginning to try to find the families and return photos to them. One box of photos was from a cousin that left no family when she died a few years ago. We didnt know any of the folks in her personal photos but I posted a message on one of the Surname bulletin boards this week and lo and behold I heard from the mans daughter. She is to send me an address this week and I will be able to return photos of her father when he was a young man in WWII. He had dated my cousin before the war. This is very exciting. Her father is still living. Sue Ellen "Life is what happens while you are making other plans"
