Hi all, There are a few researchers who just don't have the time to put their data on the web. I just made a page for Connie at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cribbs/connie1/ so that she could show her research online. I'd be glad to put a family tree page together for anyone who needs one for free. Let me know at cribbswh@tbi-set.org Let's share and promote free research online! Bill -- GREAT BOOKMARKS! Hi Deborah, Huntington is probably an unincorporated village or hamlet without it's own governing body. The county probably has all records for Huntington. You should probably call or write the county recorders office in Fairfield County to inquire if they have the records you are seeking. --- Joe DeTata jdetata@angelfire.com On Tue, 31 Oct 2000 20:18:06 Deborah Sterling wrote: >I am trying to figure out where to write for a birth >record for someone born in 1894, was told in >Huntington, Connecticut. > >So far, I found out that the Health Dept does not >have vital records and that one should write the >town or city. > >>From the website for vital records for CT: >http://vitalrec.com/ct.html and from checking what >county Huntington is in I found out that Huntington >is in Fairfield County but there is no listing >for Huntington as a city or for a clerk. > >What do I check next? One child Hattie Mae Parks is my great grandma. I have only the Civil War records and 1850 Census in NY, mentioning Charlott. BP and Hattie later removed to Michigan, Kansas, and Hattie to Colorado. Register your surnames at the genealogical society, historical society, and/or public library in the places where your ancestors lived. I recently received a treasure trove of about 150 old letters that had been written to my great-great-grandmother's brother in the 1890s. They were found in an old house's attic crawl space when some remodeling was being done. The person who found the letters was able to contact me because she got my name and e-mail address from the county library nearest the house. C. I am trying to figure out where to write for a birth record for someone born in 1894, was told in Huntington, Connecticut. So far, I found out that the Health Dept does not have vital records and that one should write the town or city. >From the website for vital records for CT: http://vitalrec.com/ct.html and from checking what county Huntington is in I found out that Huntington is in Fairfield County but there is no listing for Huntington as a city or for a clerk. What do I check next? Please help! Thanks, Deborah dls18@earthlink.net
Don't let the month slip away without defragging your hard drive. Eliminate wasted space and speed up your operations. Remember to shut down all programs except windows. Turn off your screen saver and other TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) programs as they will slow down the defrag operation. Dr. Bill (Bill@Dr-Fox.Com) .
Hello to all: A big thank you to Roy for his information on this topic. It brought in a diverse lot of opinions which I appreciate very much. A current Film I am reading at the FHC Library dates back to the 1600's but I was not able to read [translate is a better word] the records until into 1700's. I found a lot of family in the later years so can't help but wonder what I have missed by not being able to decipher any portion of the early faded pages. Some photo copies have turned out quite well with the aid of the darkening button on the copier! Regards, June Conklin Ridsdale
